Joseph Banks Senior High School

The Western Australian space Science Education Centre, additional double storey teaching block at Joseph Banks Senior High School commenced design in 2020 and reached practical completion in mid-2023. The project scope consisted of the construction the Space Science Education Centre and some minor refurbishments to existing classrooms. Overall the team delivered a successful project, which will become a fun and interactive learning facility for our future astronauts!

My scope of works (design & documentation) for this project can be summarised as follows:

• Due diligence reporting during design phase

• Probable order of costing

• Maximum Demand calculation to determine existing site capacity

• New main switch within existing site main switchboard

• Cable sizing calculations using PowerCAD software

• Digital lighting control system

• colour changing lighting system within cyber security classrooms

• Energy management system

• Security detection system

• New underground site infrastructure, such as extra low voltage, low voltage & fibre optic cabling

• Lighting calculations for interior lighting (to AS 1680) and carpark lighting (to AS 1158)

• General power & communication services in accordance with Department of Education room design brief

• Additional ICT requirements for cyber security teaching

• Liaison with consulting team during for the duration of the project

• Continued liaison with contractor during construction for a successful project delivery
